The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform this week, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with songs detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator stated earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people create a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
